Jan Gerle joins Hanko from payment service provider PAYONE where he was Executive Director Software Development and Quality Assurance.
In the recent funding round Hanko has been joined by Leipzig-based SI Ventures and Intershop founder Dr. Roland Fassauer, increasing the total amount raised from new and existing investors to EUR 1.5 million.
In his previous role at payment service provider PAYONE, Jan Gerle led a team of about 100 developers and engineers across multiple locations. He is an expert in running and scaling infrastructure for large-scale cloud-based services serving billions of requests each month. He will work closely with founder Felix Magedanz on product strategy and will serve as a link between customers and Hanko’s development team.
Felix Magedanz, CEO and founder of Hanko, is very happy to welcome Jan: “Jan has a proven track record in building and leading tech teams. His experience with software development and scaling infrastructure allows him to further enhance the core capabilities, high availability, and high security standards for our authentication platform. I am very much looking forward to working with him.”
Jan Gerle, CTO Hanko: “I see many similarities between the online payment market right before ecommerce became successful more than a decade ago and the identity and authentication space of today: Leveraging complex technology and sensitive information to drive online business and digitalization while enabling a great user experience. A huge market opportunity.”
Only a few weeks ago, Hanko announced the onboarding of experienced sales leader Shery Ghahraman, joining from US-based identity specialist OneLogin. With newly appointed CTO Jan Gerle completing the management team, the company is now equipped to shape and expand the market for secure passwordless authentication across all websites, apps, and devices.
Hanko is a Software-as-a-Service startup offering solutions for easy-to-use and secure authentication without passwords.
