Any user who is issued a session token by Hanko at least once during a given month—or whose session token is validated via Hanko’s /session endpoint—will count as a monthly active user (MAU). Subsequent activity by that user within the same month will not increase the MAU count.
What if I exceed the monthly active users limit on Hanko Cloud Starter (Free)?
First of all, congratulations, that means your app is growing. We don’t enforce user limits and won’t stop users from signing up or logging in to your app. If you have more users than the limit in a pricing tier for more than one month in a row, we’ll reach out to you and kindly ask you to subscribe to a higher Hanko Cloud tier.
What happens to my free users if I upgrade to a paid tier?
All Hanko Cloud tiers include 10,000 free monthly active users (MAU). When upgrading from Free to Pro, you will only be charged for the MAU that exceed the 10,000 mark.
What does "pausing" of projects mean when on Hanko Cloud Starter (Free)?
To save resources and not host unused applications, we're pausing inactive Hanko Cloud projects on the free plan if there's no sign of usage over a period of 7 days. You will get notified by email if that happens to your project. To reactivate your project, sign in to Hanko Cloud and reactivate the project by visiting it's dashboard. We're working on an auto-respawner that will reactivate your project as soon as someone makes a request to it's APIs.
What deployment options does Hanko support?
You can either use Hanko Cloud or self-host Hanko or Passkey API as provided on GitHub. We offer private cloud hosting options as well as commercial licenses (non-AGPL) for enterprise customers.
